The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has debunked reports suggesting an imminent removal of Mele Kyari, its Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO).
Reacting to the speculation, NNPC’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, told PUNCH on November 15 that the claims were unfounded and should be disregarded.
The reports had suggested that Kyari’s tenure might end before the year runs out, citing an alleged major shakeup within the organization.
However, NNPC has categorically denied such claims, reaffirming its confidence in Kyari’s leadership.
Kyari, who has served as the GCEO since 2019, has overseen several critical transformations within NNPC, including its transition to a private limited liability company and efforts to ensure energy security amid global market volatility.
