GTBank has issued a heartfelt apology to its customers following the service disruptions caused by the recent upgrade of its core banking system.
In a statement addressing the challenges encountered during the transition, the bank expressed regret for the delays and interruptions, reassuring customers of its commitment to delivering a superior banking experience:
“When we began the process of implementing the new Finacle Suite of Core Banking Application Systems, our goals were clear: to remain agile as we grow, adaptable, and most importantly, to improve your service experience. Yet, we must humbly acknowledge the challenges along the way.
“The process, though necessary, brought with it delays in transaction processing and interruptions to what should be seamless service and we sincerely apologise for this.
“We recognize how deeply this period of service disruptions affected your personal activities and business operations and we thank you for standing with us through it all, offering grace in times of frustration. Thank you for believing in us and allowing us the privilege of continuing to serve you. We are grateful beyond measure.”
Recall Tribune Online reported that Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) trended on Nigerian social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), as customers expressed frustration and disappointment over what they described as the bank’s poor service delivery lately.
Numerous complaints surfaced, with users alleging unauthorised deductions from their accounts. One customer claimed to have been debited ₦400,000 without any explanation, and despite raising the issue with the bank, no resolution has been provided.
