Kim Jong-un reveals ‘heir to North Korea’ in grand unveiling of two more family members

Kim Jong-un has caught the world’s attention by dropping a family bombshell. It turns out the North Korean tyrant has two family members previously not known to the public with the key point being, one could become his successor.

Walking hand in hand with Jong-un’s sister, Kim Yo-jong at Pyongyang’s New Year’s Eve bash, were her son and daughter. Until now, the leader’s daughter, Kim Ju-ae, was the only member of her generation in the public eye, fuelling speculation that she would be the next leader.

But patriarchal North Korea has never had a female leader, and now experts are wondering if the nephew – the only known male of his generation – could be the true heir. Michael Madden, founder of North Korea Leadership Watch, said the role could only be filled by someone from the bloodline of Kim Il-sung, the nation’s founder.
