Wike issues fresh ban order in Abuja

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has banned the activities of Pantekas (sellers of used items) in the FCT for two weeks.

The decision was part of conclusions reached at the first Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) Security Council meeting of the year 2025, presided over by the FCT Minister on Monday.

Wike said the ban on Panteka markets takes effect from Tuesday, 14th January 2025.

Naija News reports the Minister also banned scavenging within the Abuja city centre and its envrons, restricting scavengers to dump sites alone.

During the meeting, Wike also disclosed that all those arrested for vandalizing public infrastructure in the nation’s capital would be charged to court for economic sabotage and attempted murder.
