2025 Budget For My Ministry Not Sufficient – Humanitarian Minister, Yilwatda

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Nentawe Yilwatda, has called for an increase of funds for his ministry in the 2025 budget.

Naija News reports that Professor Yilwatda made the appeal on Friday, during the review of the 2024 budget review and 2025 budget defence with the National Assembly Joint Committee on Humanitarian Affairs, on Friday.

Yilwatda noted that the Ministry has a mandate to create 2 million jobs in 2025 and train 50,000 unemployed graduates and non-graduates under the Skill2Wealth Initiative.

He said the Ministry had procured starter packs that would enable over 110,000 beneficiaries to embark on self-reliant ventures. The starter packs were vital tools for entrepreneurship and economic growth.

The Minister explained that humanitarian needs have increased due to climate-related disasters, conflicts and man-made crises, including flooding, fire disasters and insurgency attacks that have displaced millions.
