Students of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, have taken to the streets to protest a prolonged blackout that has lasted over 80 days.
The students initially gathered at the main entrance of the University College Hospital and the College of Medicine before moving to major roads within the Agodi axis of Ibadan.
They lamented the severe impact of the blackout on their academic activities, daily lives, and even the medical care received by patients at the University College Hospital.
The students are urging the university management and UCH to resolve the debt dispute with Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company and restore power supply to the campus.
The University of Ibadan Students’ Union had initially given the federal government a 7-day ultimatum to address the issue, leading to their current action.
