Some chieftains of the Labour Party loyal to the National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure, have raised a motion for the LP presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, to be sanctioned over the role he played in the internal strife of the party.
They warned that Obi might face his worst electoral defeat in the 2027 presidential election if he continued to destabilise and factionalise the party.
They vented their frustration in separate interviews with Sunday PUNCH.
The warning came three days after Abure expressed optimism that the internal crisis rocking the party would be resolved well ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The national chairman declared that he was prepared to reconcile with Obi, Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, and other aggrieved chieftains of the party.
