On March 29, 2025, John Johnson, an Igala graduate, was tragically killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Zaina, near Angwar Hakimi, Orozo, within the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja. The incident occurred during a Boys’ Brigade camp when Johnson and another leader were ambushed; the other leader managed to escape, but Johnson was killed.
The Chief of Igala in Orozo, Amadu Zachariah, confirmed the attack, expressing sorrow and criticizing the lack of progress in capturing the assailants. He stated that although the police were informed and investigations commenced, no arrests have been made, as the suspected herdsmen had fled the area.
