The Nigerian military has announced a significant victory against terrorist groups, with the elimination of key commanders and several foot soldiers in the first quarter of the year. According to Maj.-Gen. Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, the military’s aggressive operational tempo led to the neutralization of top terrorist commanders, including Abba Allai (aka Amirul Khalid of Alafa), Abdullahi (aka Honour), Jagaban, and Dan Danger.
“The sustained operations against the terrorists also led to the arrest of scores of them, the rescue of kidnapped hostages, as well as the surrendering of many to our troops,” Maj.-Gen. Kangye said. He also noted that troops recovered huge quantities of assorted arms, ammunition, and explosives, and foiled oil theft worth over ₦7.4 billion.
