Former U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered the military to take control of a “buffer zone” along the southern border, a move he says will dramatically reduce migrant crossings if he returns to office. The proposed plan involves deploying troops to a designated stretch of land near the U.S.-Mexico border to intercept and deter illegal crossings.

Trump said the military would be empowered to “remove illegal aliens” swiftly and establish full control over border areas. “We will use the military to create a safe and impenetrable buffer zone,” he stated during a campaign speech.

Critics have raised concerns over the legality and practicality of using military force on domestic soil for immigration enforcement. Immigration advocates warn it could lead to human rights violations and escalate tensions along the border.
