She ordered Akpoti-Uduaghan to publish an apology in two national newspapers and on Facebook within seven days.
The Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday found Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan guilty of contempt over a Facebook post deemed to violate a court order.
Justice Binta Nyako delivered the ruling in a case where Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, challenged her suspension from the Senate.
The contempt application was filed by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who argued that the April 27 post breached an earlier order barring parties from commenting publicly on the matter.
While Akpoti-Uduaghan’s legal team insisted the post related to a separate issue involving sexual harassment claims against Akpabio, the court disagreed.
Justice Nyako ruled that the post was connected to the ongoing suspension case and thus constituted contempt.
She ordered Akpoti-Uduaghan to publish an apology in two national newspapers and on Facebook within seven days.
A N5 million fine was also imposed.
