A man has shed nearly 12st in just 10 months and reversed his pre-diabetes diagnosis – after his weight spiralled out of control when his mother died.
Martin Bryan, 32, from Glasgow, told how his world was ‘turned upside down’ when his ‘wonderful’ mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2008.
He began gorging on junk food as a coping mechanism, sometimes eating an entire box of 12 Krispy Kremes in one sitting, and when she passed away the following year, it became his ‘only comfort’.
Martin ballooned to 27st 2lbs, and when he began having fainting episodes in 2018, his doctor told him it was down to his weight.Â

Warned he was pre-diabetic, Martin decided to sign up to the 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan – and he’s now dropped a life-changing 11st 7lbs and tips the scales at 16st.
‘The diet has changed my life completely,’ he said. ‘I am so much healthier, both physically and mentally.Â
‘I have now reversed the risk of being diagnosed with diabetes, and I’m so proud of myself.’
Martin told how he has battled with his weight for most of his life, but his mother’s diagnosis and subsequent death was the trigger for it to get out of control.

‘My weight snowballed in 2008 after learning that my wonderful mum had been diagnosed with terminal cancer,’ he recalled.
