Some unknown gunmen have abducted a wealthy businessman in Kore town of Dambatta Local Government Area of ​​Kano State.

According to an eyewitness account, the incident took place on Thursday evening after gunmen invaded the town.



It was also gathered that the gunmen attacked six people, and abducted a wealthy businessman. During the attack, a stray bullet reportedly hit a child in the ear.

The condition of the boy could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report. 

Residents said when they were attacked, no security personnel came to their rescue or came to the scene.

They said many people fled into the woods because of the gunfire.

Chairman of the local government area, Muhammad Abdullahi Kore, who confirmed the incident identified the abductee as Emmanuel, who was running his business in the town of Kore.

On Thursday, Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje called for military intervention in the state, saying bandits had taken over its forests and converted them to hideouts.

He added that the bandits were gathering in Falgore Forest and might be planning to carry out attacks.

He said, “I am also here to seek the help of the Nigerian Army to sustain the peace in Kano State. Bandits have converted some forests in the state into hideouts.

“The bandits are grouping in Falgore Forest and may be planning to attack our people.”
