Former police officer Derek Chauvin has been sentenced to 22 years and 6 months over the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
Mr Chauvin sparked worldwide protests against racial injustice when he knelt on Mr Floyd’s neck for more than 9 minutes, subsequently killing him.
He was charged with two counts of murder and one count of manslaughter after his conviction in April.
Mr Chauvin’s mother spoke publicly in court insisting news media and prosecutors had painted a distorted picture of her son.
