Coffin, pigs looted as violence persists in South Africa

The Cable

OK, we get it, some people buy the coffin and dig the grave they want to be buried in ahead of their death — but to loot a coffin? That is a whole new level!

A video which has now gone viral on social media shows an unidentified man carting away a coffin in the heat of the unrest in South Africa.

You probably are asking, “Is he planning to die?”

There has been chaos in South Africa over the imprisonment of former President Jacob Zuma, resulting in the death of at least 72 people.

Zuma was sentenced to 15 months in prison for contempt of court, following his refusal to appear before a graft panel.

He was convicted of defying a court order to testify before an inquiry probing allegations of corruption against him during his term as president.

The situation has degenerated over the days, and criminals have taken advantage of the unrest to loot shops and destroy properties.

Ten people were said to have been killed in a stampede during mass looting at a shopping centre in Gauteng province on Monday.

It is also reported that pigs were also looted during the unrest which has now entered its fifth day.

Below are some reactions on Twitter.
