We Aint Got No History
Eden Hazard was almost hounded out of Madrid at the end of last season, especially after he was seen fraternizing with the enemy following their defeat at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League, but it looks like the media blowhards have turned their attentions elsewhere, at least for the moment. Meanwhile, Hazard went off to the Euros with Belgium, which was going pretty well until he suffered yet another injury and Belgium were eliminated in the quarterfinals by eventual winners Italy.
So, what’s next for the former Chelsea superstar in his Real Madrid dream-turned-nightmare? Probably more of the same, though according to Diario AS (via Sport Witness), the 30-year-old has been once again “offered back” to Chelsea as well.
It’s unclear at what terms this supposed offer may or may not have been made at, but what is clear is that Chelsea aren’t really in need of a winger, and we’re certainly not spending €60m on a broken player (sorry, Eden) — a “very difficult” proposition, even according to the report. It’s certainly sad to see all the physical abuse he’s suffered on Premier League pitches finally catch up to him and take their toll, but business is business and this would be very bad business. (Would much rather spent €90m on Coman at that rate, or, you know, €150-175m on Haaland.)
