Romelu Lukaku has rejoined Chelsea in a £97.5m club-record transfer after Inter Milan reluctantly let him go.
The Belgian hitman has returned to Stamford Bridge after leaving for Everton back in 2014 for £28m.
Lukaku has since played for Manchester United and Inter, and has now made his way back to Stamford Bridge after a prolific season at the San Siro.
Thomas Tuchel was determined to sign a top goalscorer to boost the European champions’ hopes of winning the Premier League title this season.
And as it became clear first-choice target Erling Haaland was out of reach at Borussia Dortmund, focus turned to Lukaku instead as a strong alternative.
The 28-year-old flew to London from Nice on Wednesday evening while Tuchel’s Chelsea played the UEFA Super Cup in Belfast.
The European champions beat Villarreal on penalties after a 1-1 draw while Lukaku sorted the final details regarding his transfer from Inter.
