The Liberia Intellectual Property Office (LIPO) has arraigned three Nigerians caught trading in the illegal distribution of copyright materials.
The Nigerians are being accused of illegally distributing more than US$1 million worth of illegally copied films, music, and other content across the country for the last five years.
he Liberia Intellectual Property Office (LIPO) has arraigned three Nigerians caught trading in the illegal distribution of copyright materials.
The group alleged ringleader, Olisuama Ifeanyi, owns at least five duplication machines that copy at most 1,000 illegal films, music, and other copyright content per day.
Ifeanyi and two others—Victor E. Sobihaza and Clementine Nagozi—are allegedly in violation of Liberia’s 2014 copyright laws and regulations about sales, rental, and reproduction of copyright and related works.
“We have been watching them for a while now…monitoring their movement and gathering evidence against them,” said LIPO spokesperson Prince E. Decker.
