A stunning strike from Lucas Moura, a collector’s item from Davinson Sanchez and yet another goal from Heung-Min Son sealed a comfortable Sunday win for Spurs.
Victory lifts them up to fifth above north London rivals Arsenal, who play at Everton tomorrow night.
It took a while for Antonio Conte’s men to establish clear daylight ahead of the opposition, but the goal that set them on their way to three points was a real gem.
It was a brilliant piece of individual work from the mercurial Moura, who had an action-packed first half.
Touching the ball around two defenders, he then played a one-two with Son before unleashing an unstoppable shot beyond Tim Krul’s right hand.
It was the Brazilian’s first Premier League goal of the season, and given its quality, that is something of a surprise.
Moura was involved in the next penetrating attack, rolling a pass out left to Son, and although the South Korean scuffed a shot, it fell invitingly to the onrushing Harry Kane, who met it too quickly to adjust his feet in time and the ball flashed wide.
Moura then played a sublime pass to Kane, which the striker p=ought to have put away. With Krul miles off his line, it just needed accuracy to beat him, but the lob drifted wide.
The Canaries – in an unfamiliar fluorescent shade of orange – almost stole an early march when Pierre Lees-Melou and Adam Idah combined down the right to set up Teemu Pukki for a low shot at Hugo Lloris.
But the threat the bottom of the table visitors posed was only sporadic. That said, they should have been level on the hour when Brandon Williams got the better to Japhet Tanganga down Spurs’ right flank and a pull-back gave Pukki the sort of opening he craves.
The Finn shanked his effort from 10 yards but it could so easily have been swept in by Idah, who could only stab wide.
