Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo broke up Juventus‘ team spirit which is why he didn’t win the Champions League with them, according to Gianluigi Buffon.
Ronaldo’s main mission when he arrived in Turin in 2018, at the same time Buffon left for PSG, was to help them win the elusive piece of European silverware.
They had reached the final of the competition a year before, but only got to the quarter-finals in the Portugal international’s first season in Italy.
And after legendary goalkeeper Buffon returned to the club in 2019, they were knocked out in the last 16 stage in the following two campaigns.
Upon his return, Buffon noted a change in the side’s “DNA” that had come about since Ronaldo’s arrival.
He told TUDN.com: “Juventus had the chance to win the Champions League the first year he arrived, which was the year I was at Paris Saint-Germain, and I couldn’t figure out what happened.
“When I returned, I worked with CR7 for two years and we did well together, but I think Juventus lost that DNA of being a team…
