Over 120 German Catholic officials come out as gay, demand reforms

No fewer than 120 officials of the Catholic Church of Germany, including priests, have come out as gay and demanded reforms to end discrimination against the LGBTQ community.

On Sunday, the church faced a historical protest as the priests and the employees demanded protection for anyone who identifies as LGBTQ, according to Deutschewelle.

Around 125 people, including teachers, church administrators and volunteers, identified themselves as gay and queer, asking the church to do away with “outdated statements of church doctrine” on sexuality and gender.
