A joint team of Ghana Immigration Service and the Armed Forced has departed 44 Nigerians for perpetuating high counts of crime in Ghana
These Nigerians, have been jailed for a month and are to be deported after serving time in prison at Tamale. Media reports say one of the reasons for their arrest is because of their illegal stay in Ghana.
Sources close to YEN News indicate that these Nigerians are to be escorted under high security to Accra. Their documents will finally be processed at the Kotoka International Airport for deportation.
These arrests follow Ghana’s high alert over threats of insurgence and insecurity from terrorist groups in Northern Nigeria and Mali.

Forty-four Nigerians have been deported for various offences including illegally staying in Ghana, several Ghanaian media reports have said.
The deportees, 43 males and 1 female were sentenced to 99 days in prison and will be deported having served their sentences at the Tamale prisons in the Northern Region of Ghana.
Immigration officers will lead the deportees from Tamale to Accra to receive their deportation letters and be escorted out of the country, the reports say.
Arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth exercise stressing that the various regional capitals the deportees will pass through have been alerted to ensure smooth passage, according to the Ghanaian reports.
This the first time the Immigration Service is deporting a large group of people from the area—prompted by the sighting of “a lot of illegal entries” there.
“Following reports that some bandits are in the Tamale area seeking to terrorise the residents, the Service continues to secure the country’s borders,” one outlet stated.
The Ghana Immigration Service also held a durbar to educate foreigners on entry and residing illegally.
