Seven people died in a stampede at Kinshasa’s Stade de Martyrs during a concert by Congolese gospel singer Mike Kalambayi, local authorities reported.
The incident occurred due to “overflows and crowd movements,” according to Kinshasa governor Daniel Bumba’s office. The stadium, which can hold 80,000 people, had 30,000 attendees at the event.
State broadcaster RTNC noted that several individuals were also admitted to intensive care.
