US airstrikes continue to target Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen, with casualties rising amid tensions linked to regional conflicts. The Biden administration asserts the strikes are part of a broader effort to counter Iran’s influence and restore maritime security.

Suspected US airstrikes struck rebel-controlled areas in Yemen, with the Houthis reporting that at least four people were killed near the port city of Hodeida. The ongoing strikes, part of a broader campaign linked to Houthi attacks on shipping in the region amid the Israel-Hamas war, have resulted in at least 65 casualties, according to Houthi figures. Meanwhile, new satellite images analyzed by The Associated Press reveal a significant US military deployment, with six B-2 Spirit stealth bombers stationed at Diego Garcia, a rare move that highlights rising tensions in the region.
The airstrike campaign, which the Trump administration has tied to efforts to pressure Iran over its nuclear program, shows no signs of slowing down. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt stated on Tuesday that over 200 strikes had been carried out so far, though specifics about the targets were not disclosed. “Iran is incredibly weakened as a result of these attacks,” Leavitt said, emphasizing that key Houthi leaders responsible for naval and commercial vessel strikes had been taken out. She added that the operation would continue until “freedom of navigation in this region is restored.”
