A deep well was discovered behind the house, and later investigations led to the shocking discovery of headless and limbless human corpses.
The trial of Adekunle Mohammed and four others accused of ritual killings continued Friday at the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan, with community leader, Pastor Abraham Ajayi, recounting the chilling events leading to the discovery of human remains in the suspect’s house.
Ajayi, the chairman of Okegbemi Community Landlords’ Association, Zone C, appeared as the third prosecution witness. He told the court how suspicion arose after residents noticed suspicious nighttime movements at Mohammed’s house and foul smells emanating from the building.
He recounted how, after a late-night community meeting, leaders contacted Amotekun and the police. A deep well was discovered behind the house, and later investigations led to the shocking discovery of mutilated human corpses.
“When police eventually opened the house, they found blood all over the floor, plastic bottles filled with blood and human body parts,” Ajayi testified. “The defendant confirmed they were human parts he hadn’t sold because buyers hadn’t shown up.”
Mohammed allegedly told officers he killed “thieves,” stunned them with charms, and disposed of their bodies in the well. He reportedly named accomplices including “Afaa Bulala” and “Kuraisi a.k.a. Yakubu.”
Three headless, limbless bodies were retrieved by the fire service. The police transferred the case to the State CID.
Mohammed is standing trial alongside Muniru Salaudeen, Rashidat Akanji (a.k.a. Iya Ewe), Ismail Olalekan, and Sanmi Obaleye for conspiracy, murder, and the dismemberment of human remains.
The case, presided over by Justice Akinniyi Akintola, was adjourned to November 6.
