The Department of State Security (DSS) in Kano State has apprehended five suspected kidnappers of a six-year-old Abdallah Abdulkadir Salisu of Gadon Kaya, Gwale Local government area of the state.
The kidnappers who are mostly underage boys of 16, 18 and 20 years respectively, were said to have connived with the cousin of the kidnapped boy, Abdulhadi Ibrahim, who initiated the nefarious act.
The DSS officer, who led the operation to arrest the kidnappers, said the boys met and agreed to perfect the criminal act in order to have enough money to celebrate the last Sallah.
The officer added that the father of the kidnapped boy, Abdulkadir Salisu, reported to the Kano Command sometime in July that his son was missing.
He said they immediately swung into action and trapped the boys who had already collected the ransom of N150,000 from the earlier demanded ransom of N5 Million, and apprehended them, although they had already spent the money.
The official added that Abdulhadi Ibrahim, who connived with others, used one Adam Shehu, a tricyclist to convey the victim to a hiding place where Aminu Salisu stayed with him for three days.
The ringleader, Abdulhadi Ibrahim 18, confessed at the DSS office of organizing the criminal act against his cousin, but begged for leniency.
