Nigerian held in The Philippines for allegedly beating keke driver to death

Police denied journalists access to the suspect, saying he constituted grave danger.

Authorities in The Philippines have arrested a Nigerian national after he allegedly struck a tricycle driver to death in Pangasinan, a province in the country.

Filipino reports say the 41-year-old tricycle driver Dennis Razo, a resident of Barangay Lucao, died in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, when the Nigerian “went berserk” and allegedly attacked him with a stick that had a nail.

The incident occurred in a parking lot at Barangay Tapuac and the suspect, Emmanuel Emeka Ndukwe, has been arrested. A witness said Ndukwe and the victim had a “heated dispute” before the latter was struck.

Nonetheless, details of what transpired between the two remain sketchy at press time. One account says Ndukwe had been previously held on assault charges.

The Nigerian embassy has already been informed of the crime.
