Viewers of ITV’s controversial new documentary How to Catch a Cat Killer have been left in tears after the ‘disturbing’ and ‘totally’ sick story of animal abuse aired this evening.
The documentary focuses on a small town in Brighton where animal lovers were horrified when their beloved pets started being killed in senseless acts of violence
The unknown attacker was dubbed the Brighton cat killer after fatally stabbing dozens of cats during a seven-month spree.
He inflicted injuries with a knife, causing slashed kidneys, maimed bowels and fatal injuries.
“I’m glad my Gracie is indoor where she’s safe! I’m crying already watching this at how someone could be so cruel! She is literally my life and my child,” said one emotional viewer.
“Absolutely no need to air this programme. Totally sick,” said another.
A third added: “You’ve got to be a sadistic c**t to stab a cat that comes up to you for a stroke. Glad my cat doesn’t go out, sick ba**ard #howtocatchacatkiller.”
Police finally caught the Brighton cat killer after his spate of attacks between October 2018 and June 2019.
Attacker Steve Bouquet was a former Royal Navy gunner from Brighton and Hove, who served in Northern Ireland and manned a gun post on a ship during service in Iraq.
He served in the Royal Navy for 22 years.
However, Steve was a shopping centre security guard at the time of his criminal activity.
In his police interview read out in court, Steve Bouquet told officers that all he knew about the cat killings was what he had read in the newspapers and online.
He told police he was “no threat to animals”.
However, police officers discovered photos of dead cats on his phone.
