Police arraign Ekiti woman for biting lady's eye

Ekiti State Police Command on Thursday arraigned a 40 years old woman, Funmilayo Aduloju, before an Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly biting a fellow lady and injuring her in the process.

The defendant was dragged to court on a count charge of assault.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Johnson Okunade, told the court that “the defendant committed the offence on July 12 at about 8:30 pm at Ekute area of Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

“The defendant assaulted one Adetutu Abegunde, by biting her with teeth on her left eye while fighting, which inflicted serious injury on her.

“The offence contravened Section 185 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021,” he said.

Okunade urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the file and assemble his witnesses.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against her, while her counsel, Mr Opeyemi Esan, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, promising that she would not jump bail.
