A 23-year-old man, Ifeanyi Chikezie, appeared in a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday, accused of stealing a drainage iron cover in the Ijeshatedo area of Lagos State.
According to Prosecutor Insp. Courage Ekhueorohan, the incident occurred on March 15 at Liadi St., Ijeshatedo, Surulere Lagos.
Ekhueorohan alleged that Chikezie was apprehended with the drainage cover, unable to provide satisfactory explanations regarding its acquisition, leading to his handover to the police for further investigation.
The offence, Ekhueorohan stated, violates Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
Chikezie, a resident of No 8 Ondo close Ijeshatedo, Surulere Lagos, pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing.
Magistrate Mrs. Sanusi Adagun granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with one responsible surety in like sum, stipulating that the surety’s address must be verified by the court.
The case was adjourned until April 26 for mention.
