An Army Reserve officer who killed his wife bought a sex doll after cashing in on her insurance money.
Colby Trickle called 911 on the morning of October 31 2019, claiming his wife, Kristen Trickle, had killed herself in their home in Hays in Kansas, US. Despite the coroner initially ruling the 26-year-old’s death a suicide, police kept the case open and continued to investigate.
The ‘grieving’ husband cashed in two life insurance polices following his wife’s death, amounting to more than $120,000 (£96,000). Investigators claim he then spent about $2,000 (£1,600) on a life-sized sex doll just two days after the money came through.
Detective Burkholder said: “There’s a mourning process that I think everyone needs to go through – should go through when a loved one dies – and to have him ordering this type of doll just months after his wife’s death was concerning.”
Kristen’s aunt Delynn Rice was “appalled” to learn Trickle bought the sex toy with her niece’s life insurance money. In a documentary on the crime, Kristen Trickle: Autopsy of the Mind, she said: “I was just appalled that he would use Kristen’s life insurance money for a sex doll.
