Nigerian judge caught trying to steal money from frozen bank account of petitioner

Kano’s Judicial Service Commission has taken disciplinary actions against three magistrates and a registrar of the Kano High Court over misconduct.

The Kano Judicial Service Commission disciplined three magistrates and a registrar for misconduct, including attempted theft, judicial bias, and recklessness.

Chief Magistrate Talatu Makama was removed from the bench and relieved of judicial duties for attempting to steal funds from a frozen account and exhibiting judicial bias.

Senior Magistrate Rabi Abdulkadir and Chief Magistrate Tijjani Saleh-Minjibir were recalled from judicial duties for one year for judicial recklessness, while Senior Registrar Abdu Nasir received a strong warning and had his promotion deferred for one year.

The commission emphasized its commitment to maintaining the integrity and accountability of the judicial system and ensuring public confidence through appropriate sanctions against erring staff.
