The Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, has unveiled a cache of intercepted arms and ammunition imported from Turkey.
The Nigeria Customs Service intercepted nine containers at Onne Port, Rivers State, containing arms, ammunition, illicit drugs, and second-hand clothes worth N13.9 billion.
One of the containers, which came from Turkey, held 844 units of rifles and 12,500 pieces of ammunition, concealed among various items.
Three suspects were arrested after a physical examination of the container and a detention warrant from a competent court.
The other eight containers held codeine, tramadol, and second-hand clothes, with a total duty-paid value of N13.9 billion.
