Nigerian man arrested for allegedly running $9m drug ring from immigration detention centre in Australia

A Nigerian man, Dirichukwu Patrick Nweke, was arrested for allegedly orchestrating a $9 million drug ring from an immigration detention center in Australia. He was reported to be using a mobile phone to coordinate the importation of cocaine into the country while in detention. The investigation, known as Strike Force Glenell, led to his arrest along with the seizure of a significant amount of drugs.

In a separate incident, a Spain-bound businessman was arrested at the Lagos airport for allegedly hiding cocaine in his sandals. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) recovered the consignment from the businessman’s sandals at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
