A dangerous rapist, Victor Adegbesan has been jailed for six years and seven months for raping a woman in Camden, London.

Adegbesan, 34 of Inverness Street, Camden was sentenced to six years and seven months’ imprisonment at Wood Green Crown Court on Friday, 26 July.

He was previously found guilty of two counts of rape after a trial at the same court on Friday, 3 May.

According to the Met Police, on Thursday, 22 July 2021, Adegbesan subjected the victim-survivor to a frightening and horrific ordeal when he raped her.

The police said an investigation began after Met officers quickly responded to a 999 call by the victim, saying the team worked around-the-clock to gather evidence and secured a charge the next day, keeping Adegbesan in custody and off the streets.

Detective Constable Max Orange, who led the investigation in Camden, commended the bravery of the victim-survivor for coming forward and reporting this abhorrent crime.

Orange said the Met took its responsibility to protect women and girls incredibly seriously, saying he was proud the police secured justice for the victim-survivor putting one more dangerous predator behind bars.

“We urge anyone who has been a victim of abuse – no matter how long ago – to please come forward to police and get the support you rightly deserve,” he said.
