The death toll from coordinated gunmen attacks on communities in Bokkos LGA of Plateau State has climbed to 52. Farmasum Fuddang, Chairman of the Bokkos Cultural Development Council Vanguard, confirmed the grim development on Friday, stating that 40 additional corpses were recovered between Wednesday and Thursday.
“31 persons were given a mass burial on Thursday, with another five underage victims burnt to ashes in Hurti village,” Fuddang said.
The attacks, which occurred on April 2nd, affected Mangor Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna (Tagai), Hurti, and Tadai communities.
Commissioner for Information, Joyce Ramnap, announced that “important arrests have been made by security agencies” and condemned the killings, assuring citizens that “every effort is being made to bring the perpetrators to justice.”
She urged residents to remain calm and vigilant, while Governor Mutfwang’s administration intensifies security deployments and intelligence gathering to restore peace.
