Liverpool are reportedly lining up a triple January transfer swoop to cover for Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita when the trio head off to the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Reds are still well positioned to launch a Premier League title challenge this season despite slumping to their first defeat of the campaign away at West Ham on Sunday.
That 3-1 loss has left them four points adrift of current leaders Chelsea, but there is more than enough time to make up ground with 27 matches still to play.
However, at the turn of the year Jurgen Klopp will be without star attackers Salah and Mane, who are set to take part in AFCON with Egypt and Senegal respectively.
Keita is also heading to the tournament with his native Guinea, meaning Klopp will also be short in midfield.
And it is believed Liverpool chiefs are already drawing up transfer plans to help cope with the trio’s absence in January.
According to reports in Italy, Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic is on the club’s radar ahead of the winter window.
Brozovic, 28, has spent the last five-and-a-half years at Inter, yet the Croatian only has seven months remaining on his current deal.
The Serie A club may therefore be tempted to cash in on him while they still can in January, which is when foreign sides will be eligible to begin negotiating a free transfer that would go through next summer…
