The full-back, who has been crucial to the rise under David Moyes in east London, collided with a post during Sunday’s loss at Manchester City when sliding to block a shot and could not continue despite receiving treatment.

Moyes took his players to the London Stadium for training on Tuesday and Cresswell was involved, though the Hammers boss will have to make a late call on whether he is fit enough to start against the Seagulls, especially with Chelsea visiting on Saturday.

“We’ve got a doubt about Aaron Cresswell but he has been out today so we’re hopeful that he’s not too bad,” said Moyes on Tuesday. “We’ll see how he is.”

Vladimir Coufal, who has seen his spot at right-back taken by Ben Johnson, replaced Cresswell on the left at Manchester City and again this evening.

Indeed, Johnson’s versatility sees him move over to the left of the back four and Coufal come into the side for his first League start since the defeat to Brentford in early October.

West Ham predicted XI: Fabianski, Johnson, Dawson, Zouma, Coufal, Soucek, Rice, Bowen, Benrahma, Fornals, Antonio

Subs: Perkins, Yarmolenko, Lanzini, Vlasic, Areola, Noble, Diop, Masuaku, Kral
