Antonio Conte has explained his thoughts on the lack of goals from Harry Kane

Harry Kane has been struggling to fire goals in for Tottenham so far this season and it was something Antonio Conte was asked about in his pre-match press conference on Friday.

The Spurs striker has scored eight goals so far this season but only netted one in the Premier League, as well as one assist in both the league and Europa Conference League.

Kane is a three-time golden boot winner and the Lilywhites only striker, meaning there is inevitably pressure on the 28-year-old to find the back of the net in games.

More surprisingly, the England captain scored seven goals in two games for his country in the most recent international break but just hasn’t been able to do the same for his north London club.

Kane has received criticism from a number of fans for not being able to find the back of the net, something they have been used to him doing so regularly in recent seasons.

Heung-min Son is currently Tottenham’s top goal scorer in the league, already scoring five in the top flight this campaign.

“First of all, I’m sure Harry is happy if we win and he doesn’t score because Tottenham is the first thought for us and Harry,” Conte said ahead of Sunday’s match against Norwich.

“As I said yesterday [Thursday], Harry played a very good game, he was in the situation that we scored and he had a good chance to score.

“Important to have chances to score and we’re improving a lot in this aspect,” the 52-year-old explained.

This has also been another area for improvement at Spurs because although Kane has had chances to score and failed to do so, there has also been a lack of service provided to the striker, which has been a result of a struggle for creativity in the middle of the field…
