Thomas Tuchel has admitted that Chelsea might not show up to their Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with Brentford on Wednesday as concerns around the spread of Covid-19 continue to rise.
The Blues had requested that their trip to Wolves on Sunday be postponed due to seven positive cases of the virus in their squad, a move that was denied by Premier League chiefs.
Tuchel was left furious that the game went ahead, with Chelsea slipping further back in the title race after being held to a goalless draw at Molineux.
According to Government guidelines, anyone who tests positive for Covid-19 must isolate for ten days, which would also rule the seven out of the Brentford clash.
While he could call upon Chelsea’s substantial reserve team options for the Carabao Cup trip to the Brentford Community Stadium, Tuchel has hinted that he may instead make a drastic move.
