Manchester United could be about to secure the signature of one of the most coveted strikers in Europe, Erling Haaland, thanks to a secret weapon.
Interim boss Ralf Rangnick is now personally leading the charge to bring the Norwegian in and has even spoken to Haaland’s father, Alf-Inge, to talk about the possibility of bringing the Dortmund striker to Old Trafford.
According to Manchester Evening News the Red Devils are going to trigger the Norwegian’s release clause which comes into effect in the 2022 summer transfer window.
Haaland is available for €75million (£64m) and has been linked to many of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Should the club secure the 21-year-old’s services, it would be a major coup and one that could be likely given the relationship Erling’s father has with Rangnick.
They worked together when the latter was sporting director at RB Salzburg and oversaw Erling’s move to the club from Molde in 2018.
This will be the second time the Red Devils have attempted to sign the prolific Norwegian having previously tried to land him in 2019 prior to his move to Dortmund.
