Manchester United look extremely unlikely to lure reported target Florian Wirtz away from Bayer Leverkusen, judging on recent comments from Bayer Leverkusen’s director, Rudi Voller. The Red Devils have already started their new direction under Ralf Rangnick after the German tactician came in to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Rangnick was appointed on an interim basis until the end of the season, where he’ll then move into a consultancy role.
But he is already making his mark behind the scenes it seems with Wirtz reportedly one of four wonderkids from the Bundesliga he is eyeing a move for along with Luca Netz, Eric Martel and Armel Bella-Kotchap.
Wirtz took over the mantle from Kai Havertz at Leverkusen after the latter moved to Chelsea in 2020.
And he’s enjoyed a stellar campaign this season with the 18-year-old scoring eight goals and providing 11 assists in all competitions.
That kind of form has attracted the attention of United, with Wirtz said to be valued at around £60million.
