Alejandro Garnacho has thanked Kyle Walker-Peters for his message of support after the Manchester United star hobbled off in the weekend’s draw with Southampton.

Garnacho was introduced in the second half of Sunday’s clash with the Saints as United went in search of a winning goal. However, his cameo lasted just 18 minutes as the youngster was withdrawn by Ten Hag after picking up an injury caused by Walker-Peters’ challenge.

The Argentina youth international was clearly in discomfort following the tackle. Ten Hag confirmed in his post-match press conference that he thought the injury was “not too bad”, though reports in Argentina have since claimed that the injury could be worse than first feared.

After Garnacho was pictured leaving Old Trafford on crutches, Walker-Peters took to social media to express his concern, writing: “It would never be my intention to injure a fellow professional. I wish you a speedy recovery and hope to see you back in action as soon as possible.”

The United youngster has since replied to said message, thanking the Saints right-back for his message of support. “More than football,” he wrote. “Thank you very much for the message brother, this is part of football.”
