Dele Alli latest: Everton loanee 'banished' from Besiktas squad as fall from grace continues

TEAM TALK

Everton flop Dele Alli has reportedly been ‘banished’ from the Besiktas squad after being told to watch from the stands for the rest of the season.

The 26-year-old joined the Turkish giants on loan last August, after making just 13 appearances for the Toffees last term.

Alli seemed to be enjoying his stint abroad initially but has fallen down the Besiktas pecking order in recent weeks with manager Senol Gunes unhappy with his contributions.

Overall, the England international has made 15 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig, scoring three goals in the process.

But, it appears Besiktas won’t be exercising their option to buy him permanently this summer, once his loan deal expires at the end of the current campaign.

Previously valued as high as £150m by Spurs, the attacker’s fall from grace has been extremely disappointing, given the quality he showed early in his career.

Dele Alli ‘banished’ from Besiktas squad

According to reports coming out of Turkey, Besiktas boss Gunes has banned Alli from the first-team squad with immediate effect.

They add that the former Spurs star is expected to watch from the stands before returning to Everton in a few months time.

Gunes is believed to be incredibly frustrated by Alli’s lacklustre performances, feeling that he doesn’t;t do enough to influence games.

He has also been annoyed by his poor attitude in training, which is something that Jose Mourinho and Frank Lampard have also suggested in the past.

When questioned on Alli’s absence in a recent press conference, Gunes said: “Dele Alli didn’t add the efficiency we thought he would.

“He was doing positive things in the last two friendly matches, but he has problems in giving assists and scoring goals.

“Whether he plays well or badly, he is a player who is likely to leave at the end of the season.”
