Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw did not take part in Manchester United’s first-team training on Wednesday afternoon.
Rashford limped off the pitch against Everton on Sunday and subsequent scans confirmed he is set to be unavailable ‘for a few games’ with a muscle injury, which means he’s uncertain to recover in time to play in the FA Cup semi-final later this month.
Erik ten Hag discussed the injury at his pre-Sevilla press conference and said: “A few games, so that’s the statement. I can’t give more details on it because we don’t know. We’ll have to see it how it develops. It’s a setback and he’s disappointed.
Donny van de Beek and Alejandro Garnacho, who are dealing with long-term lay-offs, were absent from training and Scott McTominay was also not spotted taking part in the open session, although he may have joined in after the media left. Zidane Iqbal also trained with the group at Carrington, but there was no sign of fellow academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo in the open section part.
United outfield training squad ahead of Sevilla:
Defenders: Varane, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Dalot, Martinez, Malacia, Maguire, Williams.
Midfielders: Fred, Fernandes, Eriksen, Iqbal, Casemiro, Sabitzer.
Attackers: Pellistri, Antony, Weghorst, Martial, Elanga, Sancho.
