FOOTBALL LONDON
Manchester United have reached a key agreement with Chelsea to schedule showdown talks over a transfer for Mason Mount in the next two days. According to Fabrizio Romano, the two clubs have planned direct contact to thrash out the final details over whether a deal will go ahead or not.
It comes after weeks of back and forth over the future of the England international, who has an uncertain few weeks ahead this summer. The 24-year-old has just one-year remaining on his contract, with no breakthrough on the possibility of an extension to that current deal.
United were the ones to begin their push ahead of any of their Premier League rivals, with personal terms agreed leaving just a deal with Chelsea to be agreed. Two bids were rejected early on as football.london understood the west London club set a clear stance of £70million as the valuation.
A third bid from the Red Devils was tabled at £55million, but this was met by a counter offer from Chelsea that was turned down, but did see them soften their stance on the £70million valuation. United were believed to have turned their attention elsewhere, but have left the bid on the table for a set amount of time.
