Man Utd 'talk to Brighton about Moises Caicedo' and could hijack Chelsea move

Manchester United have now made a formal approach for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo – after appearing to miss out on West Ham’s star Declan Rice.

United have been keen to add another midfielder to their ranks, and they have explored moves for both Rice and Mason Mount. However, Erik ten Hag’s side could now hijack Chelsea’s move for the Brighton man – who is valued at £80million, according to talkSPORT.

The Red Devils had tracked Caicedo when he played for Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle, but pulled out of the deal days before he agreed terms with the Seagulls. However, United fans are still keen to see him wearing Red.

“I really really hope this is true. Caicedo and Mount would be huge for our midfield,” one fan tweeted. While a second added: “The kinda news I wanna be hearing. Let’s go Mancs!”

“Man United, don’t mess this up, please… I’m begging you,” a third responded. And another added: “Drop Mount and go get this guy instead!”

United have been in hot pursuit of Mount in recent weeks, but they have seen their £55million bid rejected. Mauricio Pochettino’s side are holding out for £65million for the Englishman, but reports suggest United are not willing to meet that valuation.
