Manchester United have reportedly seen their opening offer for Rasmus Hojlund rejected by Atalanta as Juventus look to snatch the striker from under their noses. Erik ten Hag is desperate to bring in a new striker this summer after securing his first signing with the arrival of Mason Mount, but he may face competition to land Denmark starlet Hojlund after watching their first bid get turned down by the Italian outfit.
Hojlund has emerged as a cheaper alternative to Harry Kane after United were priced out by Tottenham’s £100million demands for the England captain and United have tested the waters with a £30m offer.
However, that bid has been rejected by the Serie A outfit, according to Corriere dello Sport.
Their report claims Atalanta are holding out for a bigger fee and want to earn at least £34-38m for the towering striker, which is unlikely to be beyond the Red Devils’ budget.
The 20-year-old enjoyed a fine debut season in Italy with nine goals in 20 starts, having only joined from Austrian side Sturm Graz last summer. He has also bagged six goals in four Euro 2024 qualifiers for Denmark, putting him at the top of the goalscoring charts.
