Chelsea are on the brink of sealing the signing of Moises Caicedo in a British record deal worth £115million.
The Blues are sorting out the final terms of the deal after agreeing to better Liverpool’s £111million offer that was accepted this week.
Caicedo informed Liverpool that he only wants to join Chelsea, which has let the London club back in and after more than 24 hours of negotiations, a deal is close to being fully agreed.
Chelsea are now confident they have beaten Liverpool to their top transfer target of the summer, who will infinitely improve their midfield.
Telegraph Sport understands that Chelsea are expected to pay £115million, inclusive of add-ons for Caicedo who will sign a long-term deal at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have also made a bid worth £55million for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia, who had also been a target of Liverpool. Sources believe the Blues could sign the Belgian as well as Caicedo, but Caicedo is their priority.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid are set to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga following the injury to Thibaut Courtois.
Kepa had been targeted by Bayern Munich, but Real are now in need of a goalkeeper after Courtois suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage that will keep him out for most of the season.
It is understood Kepa is keen to return to Spain and join Real on a loan deal that is not expected to include an obligation to buy him.
Chelsea signed Robert Sanchez from Brighton to compete with Kepa for the number one position and the Blues will need to sign a replacement.
Kepa’s Chelsea contract runs for two more years and sending him on loan to Real for the season is likely to signal the end of his Stamford Bridge career.
