Mykhailo Mudryk: It’s not gone to plan…

Mauricio Pochettino has defended Mykhailo Mudryk after he received criticism on Sunday.

The Ukrainian played 45 minutes for the Blues in their defeat at West Ham and some fans were not happy with his cameo off the bench.

However, Pochettino is still hopeful that he can see the best of Mudryk this season.

He said: “Today he played 45 minutes. I think he’s a young player who we need to trust and build these relationships with us and the team.

“He has enormous quality and talent, it’s only time for him to settle better with the team and find a way to perform in the way that we expect.”

Carney Chukwuemeka’s absence may open the door for Mykhailo Mudryk to start for Chelsea.

Mudryk has underwhelmed since his £88.5m move to Stamford Bridge in January.
